Learn all about hot springs at this academic entertainment facility in Beppu Onsen! About the Jigoku Onsen Museum: Through visual devices and fun stamp rallies, visitors enter an interactive, hands-on experience of the 50-year journey of the birth of hot spring water, in a memorable step-by-step way.

[Facility structure]
Visitors themselves experience 'how a hot spring is created' in four 'scenes'
<SCENE1>
Gift from the sky - The finiteness of hot springs
Floor projection mapping shows how rainwater falls and seeps into the ground.
Visitors are taken on a 50-year journey through the formation of hot spring water.
<SCENE2>
A 50-year journey underground - The value of hot springs
The complex underground world of hot spring water is fused with various hot spring ingredients as it progresses.
The intricate labyrinths and highly artistic presentation allow visitors to experience the 50-year journey of how precious hot spring water is transformed into hot spring water.
<SCENE3>
Encounters with people and culture - The diversity of hot springs
A theatre that makes you feel as if you are in the hot springs itself traces the history of the 'hell culture' in Kannawa, born from its proximity to the hot spring sources, and the great transformation that took place when many people from the outside came to visit.

Now and into the future - The sustainability of hot springs
This section introduces the expansion of 'hell culture' and the initiatives for the future of sustainable hot spring culture.
The first commemorative exhibition of Scene 4 will be a 'Festival' exhibition by designer Tamae Hirokawa in the museum's special exhibition room on the occasion of the opening of the Jigoku Hot Springs Museum.
